On Her 52nd Birthday Actress Tabu Speaks about Embracing Singlehood

Tabu is one of those actresses whose popularity level has remained constant since she joined movies a decade ago.

Her distinct acting skills and the ability to be comfortable in her own skin set her apart from other actors.

On November 4 the actress celebrated her 52nd birthday. Needless to say, Tabu has never looked better.

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times Brunch, she spoke about embracing singlehood. . She says that being single is not a “negative label.” There are numerous other factors in her life  from which she derives her happiness.

“Your happiness comes from many things unconnected with the status of your relationship. On your own, you can deal with your aloneness, but with a wrong partner, what could follow would be worse than any kind of loneliness”,  she explains

The actress has always been open to love and relationships although she’s also aware of the complexities of a man-woman relationship.

She believes an ideal relationship should nurture personal growth for both the individuals. The relationship should be liberating and not stifling.

The actress focuses on individual experiences and her own independence. She views people as unique entities rather than emphasizing gender roles within a relationship

“A man-woman relationship is a complicated thing. When we are young, we have an idea of love. Then we grow, have new experiences, get independent, and outgrow some things. I was working and wanted to see the world on my own. If I’d have given it all up, it’d have been a disservice to me and my ability. An ideal relationship is when both individuals grow just by being in each other’s lives. Relationships are meant to liberate, not stifle. I know my thinking is a bit different. For instance, I have never thought of men and women as different in a relationship. Does gender matter over the individual people you are?”, she said.

The actress believes that she’s made the right choice by focussing on her career and her love for travelling.

The actress has embraced singlehood wholeheartedly and surrounds herself with family and friends.

She is all set to appear in ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ and ‘The Crew’ alongside Kriti Sanon and Kareena Kapoor respectively.
