British Singer Elton John’s Biopic ‘Rocketman’ is All Set for Release on May 17

British Pop singer Elton John’s biopic titled ‘Rocketman’ will be releasing in theatres on May 17, 2019.

As per reports, Taron Egerton will portray the role of Elton John at various stages of his life and his five-decade-long career. The shooting of the ‘fantasy musical’ will begin in the month of August and it’s believed that the actor will sing some of John’s famous compositions himself.

The film will depict John’s emergence as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music to becoming a popular music icon. It will also include his partnership with songwriting collaborator Bernie Taupin. The movie which is by Paramount Pictures will be directed by Dexter Fletcher and the scripting is done by Lee Hall. Earlier in 2012, Elton John had expressed that he wanted Justin Timberlake to portray him. Later, there were speculations that Tom Hardy will be portraying John’s role.

Matthew Vaughn and Marv Films will produce the movie along with John and his Rocket Pictures partner and husband David Furnish. Vaughn and Egerton had teamed up earlier for films like “Kingsman” and “Eddie the Eagle” which was directed by Fletcher. Rocketman got its finance and distribution deal only last month. The whole production was put together by Wyck Godfrey, the president of Paramount Motion Pictures group.
