Charlie And Maverick‘s Tale Is about True Friendship And Support

Meet Charlie, a golden retriever who is eleven years old and blind. His owners Adam and Chelsea Stipe from North Carolina had to remove his left eye as he was suffering from glaucoma. A year later Charlie had to get his other eye removed which made him completely blind.

We’ve heard of blind humans have Seeing Eye dogs but very rarely have we heard of blind dogs having Seeing Eye dogs.

Charlie got lucky enough to get a cute budd for himself who could help him navigate his surroundings- a 4-month-old puppy called Maverick. The owners got the puppy in the month of January.

Initially, Charlie and Maverick didn’t get along. That said, it didn’t take long before the pets resolved their differences and became the best of pals.

Today Charlie relies on Maverick for certain things like walking, playing, eating and surprisingly even using him as a pillow.

Chelsea who herself brought a baby into this world, says, “They’re both pretty crazy and special. They’re definitely our entertainment.”

Chelsea told NBC that the puppy has picked up on the daily routines and patterns of Charlie. Even when the duo get together to play and Charlie loses his toy at times, Maverick would take the trouble to pick it up and hand it over to Charlie to reinitiate the game.

Maverick takes Charlie for walks by using the leash to guide him. The pair even naps together.

The owners have created an Instagram account dedicated only to them and their pranks. The photos of these two buddies have captured followers worldwide. Within four days of creating the account, the images of Charlie and Maverick went viral.

Their account has gained a whopping 52,000 followers and this was quite surprising and overwhelming for Chelsea. Chelsea told Today, “We have definitely been overwhelmed with the response, but it’s such a good thing, we love how positive the community is and how happy [the dogs] are making everyone.”

Theirs is a true story of friendship and dedication and even though they are mere animals we can easily learn a thing or two about camaraderie and fellowship from these four-legged pets.
