Samsung appears to be working on a cutting-edge smart ring capable of connecting with multiple devices and even managing them remotely. A recently published patent suggests that this futuristic adorable may have the ability to link with two gadgets, such as a laptop or tablet, to regulate their displays and interact with on-screen elements. For seamless functionality, the devices are expected to be connected to the same wireless network.

Samsung Smart Ring Patent

A patent filed by Samsung Electronics and published by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) on January 30 highlights that the South Korean tech giant is developing a ring-shaped device designed to interface with various display technologies, including LVD, LED, OLED, and even flexible screens. This system comprises three essential elements: a primary electronic device, a secondary electronic device, and an input apparatus.

The primary electronic device could be a smartphone or laptop, while the secondary device might be a tablet or an additional monitor. The input apparatus, on the other hand, could be a smart ring, another wearable gadget, or even a stylus. The technology functions by first identifying the location of the input apparatus and then utilizing this data to manipulate one or more connected screens. The display arrangement is determined by analyzing the input device’s position, which is tracked using distance sensors, motion detectors, optical sensors, and camera modules. 

Electronic gadgets may feature processors that manage visual displays by interpreting sensor data. This operation is facilitated by specialized software and heuristics, utilizing time-stamped data to ensure seamless harmonics with the user’s input device actions. By employing this innovative system, the input device can regulate multiple display characteristics. These include the sequence in which screens appear, the structural arrangement of content, and the dynamic flux of information between different displays. It also enables resilience in screen positioning and content presentation, allowing real-time modifications based on the detected location and motion patterns of the input device. This intelligent approach enhances user interaction by integrating intuitive responsiveness, spatial awareness, and fluid content transitions, making the experience more immersive and efficient.
