Daughter Found Living with Mother’s Deceased Body in Mumbai’s Bandra

In a bizarre case in Mumbai, an 83-year-old woman’s dead body was found in an apartment in Bandra (West). 

The neighbors had complained against a woman who was throwing garbage outside her window regularly. On receiving the complaint the police personnel visited her home on Friday only to find a 53-year-old daughter living with a corpse. 

According to officials, the daughter has been living with her mother’s corpse since March this year. 

A report in Mumbai Mirror suggests that the daughter has been suffering from mental health issues. She hasn’t informed anyone about the mother’s death and neither was she able to answer any questions related to her mother’s demise. 

Neighbours also revealed that the daughter did the same thing when her dog died a few years ago. She kept the body inside her house. Only after the bed-ridden mother alerted the neighbours, were they able to remove the dog from the house. 

According to a senior police officer Gajanan Kadbule who is with the Khar (west) police station, the deceased body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for post-mortem. The daughter has been sent for medical examination keeping her mental health condition in mind. 

Gajanan Kadbule said, “We don’t put such patients in lock-up. They are not aware of what they are doing. We will conduct medical tests and she will probably be sent for treatment.”
