DB Schenker Partners with Magento to Boost E-Commerce Offering

DB Schenker on Thursday firmed up a new strategic partnership with Magento, one of the world's leading providers of e-commerce platforms, to equip small and mid-size merchants with a powerful new extension.

In the new scheme of things, DB Schenker’s fulfillment experience with global logistics markets will be combined with the powerful customization and flexibility of the Magento e-commerce platform and the combined offer will provide retailers a seamless connection between the front-end and back-end on a global scale. It will be available through Magento Marketplace and as a result, the extension promised to deliver a quick, convenient and cost-efficient way to connect web shops and warehousing services.

There have been continuous and increasing demands from the customers for web-shop order tracking. The latest partnership has been a response to that demand. The solution, so offered, includes all related warehousing activities, particularly pick and pack, and delivery status updates along the entire supply chain.

Jochen Thewes, CEO of Schenker AG, said that at DB Schenker, they are actively investing in new products and channels and herewith looking forward to partnering with Magento to set new standards in global supply chain management. He fully believes that their new solution will help significantly improve their customers’ e-commerce business, he said.

Customers will now be in a position to use DB Schenker’s network of shared facilities to enable best-in-class e-commerce order fulfillment. Magento, as a strategic partner, will provide merchants with a flexible shopping cart system, that is based on open source technology.

Ryan Murden, Head of Business Development at Magento Commerce, said that they are pleased to welcome DB Schenker as their newest global logistics partner. He said that they were looking forward to helping the joint merchants (of both the entities) achieve a smooth end to end e-commerce experience. The new partnership with Magento underscores DB Schenker’s objective of becoming a leading global provider in e-commerce logistics, he said.
