Deepika Padukone recently spoke on the latest episode of Meghan Markle’s podcast Archetypes titled ‘Decoding of Crazy.’
Jenny Slate and Constance Wu were the other two guests.
The subject of the conversation was ‘Mental Health.’
Each of them narrated their own personal ordeals of struggling with their deteriorating mental health in one form or the other.
Speaking of her low point in life, Deepika said, “You just constantly feel empty, this feeling of emptiness and hollowness and hopelessness. Within our family and friends circle, we knew someone who was a counsellor and so I picked up the phone of her. I spoke to her. She was at an event, she stepped out and she said, 'Deepika I'm taking a flight and coming to see right now. You see to see a psychiatrist.' So literally from the sound of my voice, she could tell that I needed help.”
Meghan applauded Deepika for her courage to get help and the right help that worked for her.
“I think what's the most illuminating is that you're willing to talk about it.’, Meghan added.
Deepika also spoke about her husband Ranveer Singh and squashed all rumours concerning their separation. She said that all is well between them.
Meghan also opened about her own experience during her low phase in the UK. She revealed that it was through Prince Harry she got connected with a mental health professional. She called her at a time when the lady was most probably at a grocery store. Meghan introduced herself and explained that she needed help.
“I need help. And she could hear the dire state that I was in.” Markle said.
She said that we should be really honest in what we need and shouldn’t be afraid to ask for it. One should make peace with that.
In ‘Oprah With Meghan and Harry’, Duchess of Sussex discussed the pressure she faced in the royal institution as well as in public which drastically affected her psychologically.
Meghan Markle launched her podcast Archetypes on August 23. Celebs like Serena Williams, Mariah Carey and Mindy Kaling earlier graced her new podcast show.
