Deepika Padukone as Draupadi in Mahabharat, Wait for Diwali 2021

Star actress Deepika Padukone’s Bollywood biggie has been announced, and it’s none other than the picturisation of the most revered Indian epic Mahabharat. And the very gorgeous Deepika Padukone will be donning the debonair and dynamic Draupadi!

According to the latest updates, this ancient Indian epic will be filmed and released in many parts. The maiden part is scheduled to come out on Diwali 2021.

Also, Deepika has teamed up with Indian film producer and entrepreneur Madhu Mantena, for this extravagantly mounted project. Interestingly, as per sources, the film will be narrated from Draupadi’s perspective. Love, war, treachery, prodigy, nuisance… all from a woman’s point of view! Seems sensational! So apart from portraying the central character here on screen, she would be also playing her part as one of the producers of Mahabharat, off-screen.

There isn’t any confirmation yet regarding the names featuring in other major roles. But undoubtedly, Mahabharat would be one of the most anticipated motion pictures in Indian cinema, for the upcoming years.

Here’s what the prime lady of the film has to say about it, “I’m absolutely thrilled and honoured to be essaying the role of #Draupadi. I truly believe that it is the role of a lifetime,”.

Well, this isn’t Deepika’s first on-screen saga depiction, for she has already represented historical legends like Mastani, the warrior princess in ‘Bajirao Mastani’(2015) and the brave, beautiful & bright Rani Padmavati in ‘Padmaavat’. Her effervescent Leela in ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ramleela’(2013) was a contemporary Indian rendition of William Shakespeare’s Juliet, from the classic ‘Romeo and Juliet’. 

However, being an epic feature film, Mahabharat is definitely going to manifest an ensemble cast.
