Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, 89, was discharged from Breach Candy Hospital early on Wednesday and will continue his treatment at home, doctors confirmed. The actor, who was admitted late last month after complaining of breathlessness, is said to be in a stable condition.
According to hospital sources, Dharmendra was discharged at around 7:30 am after his vital parameters improved.
“He is stable and cheerful. The family preferred that he continue treatment at home under medical supervision,” a senior Breach Candy doctor said.
Confirming the development, a spokesperson from Sunny Deol’s team said in an official statement,
“Mr Dharmendra is stable and under observation. We request everyone to pray for his speedy recovery and respect the family’s privacy.”
Over the past few days, several false reports on social media had claimed that the veteran actor was on a ventilator or in critical condition. The family has dismissed these claims as baseless.
His daughter Esha Deol shared on social media,
“My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to avoid spreading misinformation and give our family privacy.”
Actor-politician Hema Malini also called out the rumours, saying that Dharmendra was “responding well to treatment” and “recovering steadily.”
Dharmendra was admitted to the hospital around October 31 after he complained of uneasiness and shortness of breath. He remained under medical observation for nearly two weeks. Hospital officials have not disclosed further details about his diagnosis, citing patient confidentiality.
The actor’s discharge has brought relief to fans and members of the film industry. Several celebrities, including Aamir Khan and Bobby Deol, visited the hospital earlier this week. Messages with the hashtag #GetWellSoonDharmendra have been trending since the news broke.
Dharmendra was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024) and is set to appear in Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming film Ikkis, which is scheduled for release on December 25, 2025.
The actor, who will turn 90 next month, continues to receive love and support from fans across generations.
