Did You Watch the Web Series FLIP: Book This Weekend for a Quick Binge Watch

In the flood of some excellent web series, Flip is one such must watch. Mind it before you watch it. Be ready for some quirky severe shocks which might question so many things around you.

This is most probably the Indian version of sci-fi anthology series Black Mirror. The four episodes short web series comprises of 4 small episodes named Hunt, Bully, Massage, and Happy Birthday.

Director Bejoy Nambiar’s first digital debut is intriguing and insightful. The ‘Shaitan’ director made his digital debut with this Eros Now web series, and we all wish there were more episodes to it.

Dealing with life and people it shows a different angle. Sometimes taking the course of a dystopian world and sometimes harping on regular problems and their unexpected results. All the four are coming out as a product of the genre psychological thriller. It has flavors of all kinds, and all the bit of the platter is equally delicious.

Spoiler Alert #1

Talking about the first story, Hunt. Personally, this was one of my favorites and rightly put in the first episode as it hooks the audience at a high level.

Written by Kartik R. Iyer, the episode begins with a woman lost in the jungle with a kid. Both are wearing identical costumes and running away from a group of predators who are with rifles running after them. Soon it is found out that there are more like them.

As the story progresses, you will know they are a part of a game where these people are hunted. The hunter who kills the maximum number of targets wins the game.

The targets have only two options. Either they will get killed, or they need to kill the hunters to save themselves. As the story reveals, you will know that some of the targets are there in the jungle for months or some are just a few days old. But all are trying to be alive.

They all are trying to find their way out of the jungle, but they are failing in their attempts as the group is getting shrunk every moment due to the hunt. All the hunters have got a talisman kind of thing with them. The targets have a mark on their arms that are scanned by the hunter’s talisman, and that is the indication of the number of kills a particular hunter has made.

One of the most intriguing characters is Reza played Sheetal Menon who brings in the twist in the episode. The story will leave you numb, and the climax makes you dumbfounded.

The picturesque locations are worth a mention in this episode. The brilliant cinematography and the beautiful location made the episode eye soothing even after so much violence. The ambiance created was surreal and complimented the dystopian world.

The similarity between Black Mirror’s White Bear and The Hunt is that the targets are not innocent people. You got to see it to find out the reason.

Spoiler Alert #2

Is it conceivable to cover your genuine self so somewhere inside you that each endeavor at recuperation transforms into a more significant hazard? Raghu, a bright, savvy individual, just about a domineering jerk, ends up on the opposite side of the table after a ground-breaking occasion. He adjusts in his world always, and he transforms into a ‘ghonchu’, as his associates would call him. From his wife, the IT guy, to his supervisor, he trusts everybody is exploiting him though a concealed side of him is kicking the bucket to vent out. At some point, he chooses to assume responsibility for his life and bring back his shrouded side, whatever might be the expense. The change begins when he takes cover behind a creature ensemble for a party and chooses he would reveal the genuine Raghu.

The fact of the matter is at last not what he sees, and that would abandon him with the most profound lament of his life.

Bejoy Nambiar's another shining star Ranvir Shorey as Raghu. The flashbacks demonstrate to us that he was an alternate individual as an adolescent, somebody who realized how to control things and make things advantageous for him. Amid a ragging session, the sure and shrewd Raghu is compelled to take cover behind his curbed side.

The scene that best characterizes the story is Raghu's deer ensemble discovering fire amid a gathering and his inclination to leave it to spare his life. The scene comes at a well-suited time when Raghu is in the attitude to evacuate all layers and locate the genuine self. It is the picture of a man caught in a deer ensemble that stays with you. A deer who needs to meet the Lion he used to be.

The main scene of the episode could help some to remember Black Museum and the last scene of the fourth episode of Black Mirror, where a human is caught inside a creature's body. In any case, when you see it, you understand it's a different story.

Spoiler Alert #3

A lovely dovey Parsi couple Keki (Jim Sarbh) and Firdaus (Sandeepa Dhar) announce their engagement before their family and are wanting to get hitched the following month. They have their little secret of Firdaus being pregnant. Before the marriage, Keki's closest companion Navzar (Viraf Patel) takes him for a massage that guarantees a happy ending however lands him in an extraordinary circumstance.

The best thing about the episode is Jim Sarbh and his beautiful presentation. He slips easily into his quickly changing character and abandons us in amazement. The story, unfortunately, doesn't leave a similar effect.

Spoiler Alert #4

A kid frequently acquires delight a family, however, what happens while respecting that joy implies your life gets cut off. Will you settle on that decision?

The hero of the story Shiv is experiencing a similar predicament. His family endures a curse that the men in their family would die when their kid turns 4, and that is the reason he wouldn't like to get hitched.

This is by far the most disappointing story of the series. Predictable after a point of time. No significant twists though the ending was desired to be dramatic. But the suspense is actually understood beforehand.

We hope to get another season of the series and get some more good stories like Hunt. But on an overall scale, FLIP will sure to give your daily life a dose of exciting Flips.
