This innovative system allocates a unique 10-character alphanumeric code to every 4m * 4m grid across India, ensuring hyper-accurate identification of homes, offices, and other entities.
Unlike conventional postal codes, which broadly cover entire neighbourhoods or towns, DIGIPIN pinpoints exact locations, proving invaluable for sectors such as e-commerce, emergency services, logistics, and public infrastructure. Developed collaboratively by India Post, IIT Hyderabad, and NRSC, ISRO, this open-source solution is set to redefine how India navigates addresses, especially in areas where formal systems are absent.
To generate a DIGIPIN, users simply need to visit the government portal at https://dac.indiapost.gov.in/mydigipin/home, pinpoint their home or building on the map, and retrieve their exclusive code.
