Domestic Help Arrested in the Shocking Double Murder Case in Kolkata

In a shocking case in Kolkata, a 42-year-old woman Mithu Haldar and her son Vicky are allegedly involved in the murder of Subir Chaki and his driver Rabin Mondal. 

61-year-old Subir Chaki was the managing director of Kilburn Engineering Ltd who was selling a property in Kolkata. 

Mithu Haldar who is a domestic help and her son had plans to buy the property that was being sold by Mr Chaki. They came across the advertisement for the sale of the property in the newspaper.  The price however didn’t fit their budget. 

“Vicky had once visited the house and had left after coming to know that Chaki had quoted a price of nearly Rs 1.5 crore,” said the officer of Kolkata police’s detective department.

The mother and son duo then decided to rob Subir Chaki. 

On Sunday, Subir and Rabin were at their ancestral property in Kankulia road near Golpark. According to police, Vicky and his aides were under the impression that Subir had a lot of cash.

The group pretended to be different prospective buyers. They planned to threaten him with a sharp weapon and in turn, take away the cash and other valuables from him. 

That night Mr Chaki’s and his driver’s bodies were found on two separate floors of the property in Kolkata’s Gariahat. Stab wounds were found in the legs, neck, and back in both bodies. 

Mr Subir Chaki is an alumnus of St. Xaviers School, IIT Kharagpur, and IIM Calcutta. He was also an active member of the CII eastern region. Although he stayed in Mumbai, he often visited Kolkata as per his work requirements. He was well respected by his college mates and colleagues. 

42-year-old Mithu Haldar has confessed to conspiracy in the crime and has been arrested. She’s a domestic help who works for a teacher and resides in Diamond Harbour. Blood-stained clothes have been recovered from her home in Diamond Park. 

Vicky however who is the key suspect is on the run.
