Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Surprises a Stillwater Teen from Minnesota Who Invited Him to the Prom

Dwayne Johnson has big muscles and a big heart to go along with it. Not very often you get to hear famous actors doing something memorable for their fans, however, Dwayne Johnson is different. He went out of his way to surprise a teenage girl from Minnesota who had invited him to the prom. Katie Kelzenberg posted a video on Twitter and asked Johnson: “Will you ROCK it with me at prom?” In her wildest dream, she would not have expected a response and such a big surprise.

A few days later, a voice came over the school loudspeaker at the Stillwater Area High School when Katie was in her AP statistics class. Dwayne’s recorded voice made the announcement “I’m going to start this Friday morning announcement off with a little bit of fun and a little bit of excitement. You’re probably thinking What? What is 'The Rock' doing on our intercom system? Well, I’m sending a message to a very special young lady, and her name is Miss Katie Kelzenberg,” he said.

Through the announcement ‘The Rock’ informed Katie he will not be able to accept her invitation as he would be away shooting in Hawaii for his new movie  'Jungle Cruise'. However, he did not want to disappoint her so he rented out a movie theatre for Katie to watch his latest movie 'Rampage'. On Instagram, he wrote, "I decided to rent out an entire theater (capacity 232 seats) in her town so Katie and her closest 232 friends and family can enjoy a special screening of RAMPAGE and all the free popcorn, candy and soda high school kids can consume! Your money’s no good Katie... everything is on Uncle DJ."

Johnson called Katie “cool” and “awesome” for inviting him to the prom, which will take place on May 5 at the Myth in Maplewood.

Katie’s reaction was uploaded on the school’s Facebook page. According to the district spokeswoman, Carissa Keister, a Warner Bros. representative, got in touch with school officials and informed that 'The Rock' wanted to surprise Katie. The lucky teenager who lives in Afton couldn’t believe it. She said, “I couldn’t believe it. I was so surprised, I just kept thinking, ‘He saw me! He knows who I am!’ ”

Katie is a great fan of Dwayne Johnson. She has a Dwayne Johnson pillow, T-shirts and an action figure. Her friends even got her a life-size cardboard cutout of her favorite movie star. She dressed as ‘The Rock’ for Halloween.

Katie became Dwayne’s fan five years ago after watching a few of his movies. When asked which is her favorite movie starring Dwayne Johnson, she said her favorites keep changing, however, at present, she likes ‘Central Intelligence’ and ‘Jumanji’.

Besides liking his movies, Katie is a big fan of Dwayne because he is known to interact with his fans and is very kind to them. He takes out time from his busy schedule to interact and connect with his fans. This has endeared him to her even more. Katie will attend the University of Minnesota next fall. She will attend the screening of Rampage in the theatre with her parents-Pete and Sara and her brother Henry.

Dwayne was very excited watching Katie’s reaction after receiving his surprise and he called it ‘Priceless’. He and Katie text each other and he has also made himself an honorary Pony(the school mascot).
