Earthquake Shakes Telengana, Tremors Felt in Hyderabad And Adjoining Areas

Hyderabad and adjoining areas were impacted by an earthquake of 5.3 magnitude on Wednesday morning. The tremors were felt in Andhra Pradesh claimed the Institute of Seismology. According to reports, the quake started nearly around 7:30 AM. There were no casualties or injuries reported by authorities. However, the residents of old and damaged buildings have been asked to stay cautious.

Telangana rarely witnesses any form of seismic activity however this is something that created panic among the residents of Telangana. The activities and tremors were also felt in certain districts of Maharashtra such as Nagpur, Gadchiroli, and Chandrapur. The record of 5.3 was analysed at Mulugu.

The shock waves were minimal in Maharashtra as claimed by the Indian Meteorological Department. Vinay Gowda collector of Chandrapur requested the residents to not panic and move to an open space if such tremors are felt again. The reason to not panic is the fact that the tremors were felt at least 200 to 300 kilometers from the epicenter.

There are 4 specific zones namely, Zone II, Zone III, Zone IV, and Zone V. While Zone V witness the highest level of activities, Zone II experiences very less activities. Around 40 percent of the overall land mass is occupied by zone V which experiences very little shocks.

After the news went viral people took to X to share their reviews. One of the user claimed that “For the first time in last 20 years, one of the strongest earthquake occured in Telangana with 5.3 magnitude earthquake at Mulugu as epicentre.”
