Empty Tents and Crowd, Mahakumbh Now Stands Deserted

Mahakumbh which concluded this week commences after 144 years and many tourists across the globe have joined. The religious and cultural event of Mahakumbh drew too much attention. Starting from popular saints to tragic events. Mahakumbh was on the mouth every day and reported different news to audiences. Now that the event has concluded, the crowd has reduced and vehicles are allowed in the areas.

Pictures released by different media agencies show the empty tents and the opening of the restricted areas. Vendors and businesses that once flocked the roads and streets have no existence anymore on the streets. However, very few people are visiting the Sangam ghat which is believed to be one of the most busy ghats during the event. Moreover, the great stampede of Mahakumbh also happened in Sangam Ghat.

Uttar Pradesh Government ordered a 15-day cleanliness drive which is aimed at cleaning and clearing all the permanent and temporary structures of the event. The mela ground and the ghats will be cleaned using machines and intense labor that will ensure the hygiene of the areas.

"Maha Kumbh, the world's largest human congregation, witnessed over 66 crore devotees taking a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam. In keeping with Chief Minister Adityanath's commitment to a clean and divine Maha Kumbh, more than 15,000 sanitation workers and 2,000 Ganga Sewa Doots played a crucial role in maintaining hygiene and cleanliness throughout the event," claimed the state government.

A special officer has been appointed to supervise the entire drive. Swacchata Mitras and Ganga Sewa Doots ensure the cleanliness and sanctity of the place. The waste being collected from the place is being properly disposed of and incinerated. Temporary pipelines for water and gas connections will also be dismantled along with the tents that were used for the saints. More than 1 lakh toilets were used in Mahakubh which will also be removed in the coming days.

It is estimated that close to 1.5 crore devotees have taken a dip in the holy Ganga water. The pollution level of the water may have increased over the period. The cleanliness drive is also supportive of the cleaning of the water bodies. Uttar Pradesh also achieved a Guinness Book of World Records fame for extensive cleaning of the Ganga water and keeping it hygienic for the use of people.

Many well-known personalities such as Apple founder Steve Jobs and his Wife had also come to take a dip in the Ganga however, because of allergies, they had to refrain. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Draupadi Murmu were also seen taking a dip in the holy river leading to immense.
