ER Actress Vanessa Marquez Shot Dead by Police

Vanessa Marquez, the actress who made her appearance in the TV medical drama “ER” was shot by police officers in California. As per sources, she pointed a toy gun at them which was mistaken as a real gun by the police officials after which they shot Venessa to death.

She was also seen in the movie “Stand and Deliver”. Last year, she gained a share of the limelight when George Clooney blacklisted her from making any appearance in Hollywood. After she was shot by the police on Thursday in her apartment in South Pasadena, outside Los Angeles, she was taken to the hospital where she took her last breath.

As per the reports presented by the police officers of South Pasadena, they received a call from Venessa’s landlord. Lt. Joe Mendoza, an officer of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department informed that as per the information received, she needed medical help and soon they rushed to her apartment. On reaching there, she was found having a seizure.

Soon after the 49-year-old actress was improving with the help of paramedics and reportedly she was found talking with the three officers and the mental health officer. The mental health officer reported that after a talk of an hour and a half, she was convinced to take the medical help.

Lt. Joe Mendoza informed that she was not cooperating and was resisting in taking the healthcare service. He also informed that the actress was unable to take care of her health and from her condition, it was not difficult to decipher that she was facing mental issues.

After a point of time, Vanessa was seen pointing a BB gun at the officers present there. To tackle the situation the officers were compelled to shoot her. Mendoza informed that the gun appeared a real one. The police also informed that they were not sure where the gun was while they were talking with her for a long time. Mendoza also informed that the real footage of the entire scene can be seen later. The police officers were wearing body cameras that recorded the entire incident. But the release of those footages will not be possible right now. The clips won’t be released at least six months pending the investigation.

When asked about her condition, her close friend was unable to say anything about her mental condition. Terence Towles Canote was a close friend of Venessa who informed the investigators that she had been suffering from financial issues and poor health conditions. But as per their knowledge, she did not have any signs of depression. She was hopeful about her comeback in the career and even dreamt of winning an Oscar someday. Her hopeful nature and never dying soul never showed any signs that made anyone feel that she wanted to die.

As per the recent news, the police are working on finding out the real reasons for her pointing the gun as her close friends are not reporting any mental illness.

Marquez had been active on Facebook and posted regularly about her health problems. He informed that she was not well and have been facing seizures along with celiac diseases. She also said that this is an autoimmune disorder and if gluten ingestion occurs there can be permanent damage in the intestines.

In a post of 2014, she said that she had been spending the savings of her life on giving the bills of doctors and hospitals. But she complained that they were not treating her properly and for that reason, she was unable to work. She said she was not being able to perform the basic regular activities due to her health condition.

Her career

She had been playing consecutive roles in the episodes of “ER”. The duration was from 1994 to 2009. She was also seen making appearances in "Malcolm & Eddie", ''Melrose Place", and "Seinfeld". But basically, her career started to see the doomsday after “ER”.

She informed that her “ER” co-stars have been wrong in their behavior with her. There were complaints of passing racist comments and sexual harassment. Due to such complaints made, she said Clooney helped her from getting blacklisted in Hollywood. Clooney commented on the allegation and said that he was just an actor on the show and was not aware of any blacklisting related to her. He said, "If she was told by someone that I was involved in any decision making related to her career then she was lied about it…" and "The fact is that I am not able to affect her career is only surpassed by the fact that I wouldn't."

In one of her social media posts, she said that she was grateful that she got to perform in “Stand and Deliver”. She wrote, "If you're really, really fortunate you do a film that makes history and affects the lives of millions of people ... It will live on long after we're gone."
