Estranged Couple Ravi Mohan and Aarti Ravi Battle Divorce in Court Amid Allegations and Emotions
Ravi Mohan and Aarti Ravi's divorce battle intensifies in Chennai court, with accusations, alimony demands, and emotional statements involving a third party. The case is adjourned until June 12.
On May 21, actor Ravi Mohan and his estranged wife Arti Ravi appeared before the Chennai Family Court, filing separate petitions as part of their ongoing and publicly scrutinized divorce proceedings. The relationship, once considered sacrosanct, now seems irreparably frayed as both sides continue exchanging allegations amidst legal filings.
While Ravi reiterated that he had already granted a divorce, Asrti demanded ₹40 lakh per month as alimony. Their previously private disputes have now become a public spectacle, drawing attention from the media and fans alike.
The couple had earlier been instructed by the court to participate in reconciliation sessions in a bid to salvage the marriage. They had attended these mandated sessions, but no resolutive outcome has emerged. During the latest hearing, Ravi petitioned the court to dismiss Arti’s plea for cohabitation, asserting that reconciliation was futile.
The court, exercising judicial equanimity, advised both parties to re-evaluate their positions and postponed the hearing to June.
Adding a dramatic dimension to the legal battle, Arti recently issued a heartfelt public statement targeting Ravi’s rumoured partner, Kenishaa Francis, labelling her a “homebreaker.” In her message, Aarti asserted:
“The truth needs to be said – once and for all. Money, power, interference, or control—none of these are why our marriage suffers. There is a third person in our marriage... This person was already in the picture long before any divorce papers were filed. This isn't guesswork. I have proof."
These allegations paint a complex picture of emotional distress and possible betrayal. Ravi, on the other hand, previously responded with a composed note, saying:
“After much thought, reflection, and discussions, I have taken the difficult decision to proceed with the dissolution of my marriage with Aarti. This decision was not made out of haste, and it stems from personal reasons that I believe are in the best interests of everyone involved.”
In the wake of his announcement, Ravi also officially changed his name from Jayan Ravi to Ravi Mohan, a symbolic move that many view as an attempt to dissociate from past entanglements.
For those unacquainted with the dramatis personae: Ravi Mohan, son of veteran film editor A. Mohan, is a prominent actor known for films like Jayam, Bommarillu, Peranmai, and Siren. Aarti, daughter of television producer Sujatha Vijayakumar, shares two sons—Aarav and Ayaan—with Ravi.
