Exhaustion Is Glorified A Lot in Our Professional Lives Says Citadel Actress Priyanka Chopra

In a recent interview with Forbes India, Priyanka Chopra discussed the subject of work-life balance, which has become a hot topic these days.

The actress, known to be passionate about her work and to have reached the pinnacle of success, revealed that she began prioritising work-life balance only after starting a family.

She prioritises it for better mental health. PC emphasises that this balance is necessary to prevent herself from getting into survival mode.

“Exhaustion is glorified a lot in our professional lives”, says the actress. She believes working hard is important, but working smart is equally crucial.

During her working hours, the actress is fully dedicated to her craft. Once the workday ends, she completely disconnects from her professional responsibilities.

The actress, who has experienced the Indian film industry as well as Hollywood, notes significant differences in the work culture between the two.

Chopra explained that work is more organised and structured in Hollywood. “There's so much paperwork --- 100 emails will come to you before the next day. And timings are very specific. Your call time can be 7:32 pm or am. It depends on what time you wrapped the night before. There is no room to play like unless you're working with a filmmaker who does that. But within production, it's really like tight and organised.”

In India, people are creative and flexible when it comes to work. “ We get stuff done and we are romantic about it, like ‘arey ho jayega, karlenge’ (it’ll happen, we’ll make it work). It’s a very different way of working but that’s also true to the countries themselves. Our creativity can be super organic.”

“Otherwise, I think filmmaking around the world speaks the same language. You have the script, you have ADs, you have producers. It’s just the cultural differences”, explains the actress.

PC misses India and is planning to do some work here and she is equally looking forward to doing some incredible work for Hollywood.

The actress was last seen in 'The Sky Is Pink’ with Farhan Akhtar. She is shooting for the second season of ‘Citadel’ and has already finished shooting her next Hollywood Project ‘The Bluff.’
