F.R.I.E.N.D.S Cast Members Release Joint Statement Following Matthew Perry’s Death
Heartfelt tributes to Matthew Perry, the adored star of 'F.R.I.E.N.D.S,' continue to pour in, touching the hearts of fans worldwide.
The touching and heart-warming tributes to Matthew Perry, the beloved ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S’ star Matthew Perry haven’t ceased yet.
Celebrities like Salma Hayek are coming forward and sharing their own personal memories with the actor. The ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S’ crew have not come to terms with Matthew’s death and in their own words are “devastated.” They acknowledged that they need time to process the loss.
The crew of the popular sitcom have finally released a joint statement expressing their grief at the death of their beloved friend, brother and colleague.
“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family”, said the statement.
“There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”
“In time we will say more, as and when we are able,” the statement continues. “For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
The message was signed by cast members Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Lisa Kudrow.
The creators of the series Marta Kauffman, David Crane along with Executive Producer Kevin Bright also issued a joint statement on Sunday.
“We are shocked and deeply, deeply saddened by our beloved friend Matthew’s passing,” they wrote. “It still seems impossible. All we can say is that we feel blessed to have had him as part of our lives. He was a brilliant talent.”
“It’s a cliche to say that an actor makes a role their own, but in Matthew’s case, there are no truer words. From the day we first heard him embody the role of Chandler Bing, there was no one else for us.”
“We will always cherish the joy, the light, the blinding intelligence he brought to every moment — not just to his work, but in life as well. He was always the funniest person in the room. More than that, he was the sweetest, with a giving and selfless heart.”

An insider source told Page 6 that the cast members are reeling from the news of the loss of their beloved “brother” as they were very close. They are “leaning on each other at this time.”
“They were together through the best of times and worst of times.” It is well known that their friendship moved beyond the onscreen friendship. Even Matthew Perry acknowledged that the members protected him and it was Jennifer Aniston who reached out to him more. “She was the one that reached out the most. You know, I’m really grateful to her for that”, Perry told Diana Sawyer in 2022.
It is our hope that Matthew Perry or “Chandler” as we like to call him, can feel all the love he’s currently receiving from family, friends, colleagues, singers, actors, leaders and fans all over the world.
