Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg Announces Engagement to Tom Bernthal through Insta Pic
“Engaged!!! Tom Bernthal, you are my everything. I could not love you more,” wrote the Facebook Chief Operating Officer.
The Chief Operating Officer of Facebook and founder of Leanin.Org has taken to Instagram to share some exciting news.
With a charming picture of herself and her to-be-partner on Instagram, Sheryl declared that she’s engaged to Kelton Global CEO- Tom Bernthal.
“Engaged!!! Tom Bernthal, you are my everything. I could not love you more,” wrote the Facebook Chief Operating Officer.
The pair got engaged over the weekend.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg also wished Sheryl with these words: “You're wonderful for each other and I'm so happy for both of you.”
It was during a Christmas party in late 2007 that Mark Zuckerberg met Sheryl. He thought that she would be the “perfect fit” for the position of a COO for Facebook even though he was not searching for anyone in this position. In March 2008 Sheryl Sandberg joined Facebook after leaving Google. She had a big role to play in Facebook’s growth and success.
The COO and author had been widowed for five years when her former husband Dave Goldberg, the CEO of SurveyMonkey, passed away while working out on a treadmill while they were vacationing in Mexico.
Rumors were doing the rounds that he died due to head trauma while he fell off the treadmill albeit later Sheryl confirmed that Dave passed away as a result of a health condition called arrhythmia. It’s a condition where the heart beats too fast or too slow.
In the months to follow, Sandberg spoke about her grief and penned down her emotions by discussing resilience in her book published in 2017. It was called the “Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience, and Finding Joy.”
Previously in 2013, she published a book called ‘Lean In’ which discusses balancing work-life and family. She shares pointers on how women can excel in their careers while sharing their own personal experiences. The topic ignited conversations on women and ambition. The book, however, received mixed reviews and not many agreed to her ideology.
Apparently, Sheryl’s former husband’s brother- Rob Goldberg brought Tom and her together. “Both of them have gone through loss, and just because you have gone through loss doesn’t mean you aren’t entitled to happiness and joy again”, Goldberg told PEOPLE magazine.
