Film Personalities And Other Celebs Lose Verified Blue Ticks On Twitter Profiles

Prominent celebrities such as Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan have lost the blue tick mark on their profiles.

Not just celebrities and journalists, some government agencies, Non Profit Organizations etc are also no longer verified.

As promised earlier Twitter has removed legacy verified blue tick marks from those profiles that are not paying for Twitter Blue.

Twitter had earlier posted a message that stated, “On April 1st, we will begin winding down our legacy verified program and removing legacy verified check marks. To keep your blue checkmark on Twitter, individuals can sign up for Twitter Blue.”

The subscription costs USD 8 per month via web and USD 11 per month via in-app payment on iOS and Android.

The blue tick mark on a profile distinguishes profiles of celebrities, notable personalities, brand, organisations, news organisations and so on from imposters on the microblogging platform.

Other popular personalities who have lost their verified blue ticks on their profiles are Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and politicians Yogi Adityanath, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.

Some rules laid down by Twitter for a profile to be verified are

  1. The profile must be active for 30 days before signing up for Twitter Blue.
  2. The profile should have a verified mobile number.
  3. The profile shouldn’t be deceptive.
