Footballer David Beckham, Britain’s Fashion Ambassador

Former British Footballer David Beckham has been appointed Ambassadorial President by British Government to promote its fashion industry. The industry is a £30 billion business, which contributes to 800,000 jobs to the economy of the country. He is expected to promote the business in world’s big markets including India.

 

As Ambassadorial President, Beckham’s job will be to visit countries across the world, mainly the big markets like the US, China, and India with whom the UK also has strategic and trade relationship.

 

The appointment of David Beckham is initially for two years term and his appointment as the Ambassadorial President was officially announced recently by the British Fashion Council, Stephanie Phair, Chairman of BFC said she is thrilled with the association of Beckham with BFC. She also briefed media why Beckham has been chosen for the job, “As we look to boost support for the British fashion industry at a global level we identified the need for a global figurehead, with global reach, who is able to shine a light on our incredible British fashion talent. David has been inspired by our work with emerging talent and education and his business acumen, global reach and passion for promoting talent and education make him the perfect ambassadorial president to propel our industry into different corners of the globe.”

 

Immediately after his appointment as the Ambassadorial President, David Beckham has started working and has visited some educational fashion projects and clothing manufacturers in Manchester. This indicates his love and dedication for the job.

 

On his appointment as the Ambassadorial President of British Fashion Council, David Beckham said, “Taking on this new role is an incredibly proud moment for me. I have long been passionate about British style, fashion and craftsmanship and this role gives me the chance to get under the skin of an industry I love. I am excited to be working closely with the British Fashion Council to promote and inspire young talent, from across the UK, on a global scale”.

 

The British Fashion Council hopes that brand Beckham will also attract a new generation of creative and business talent in the UK and encourage young people to explore fashion as a potential career. On the other hand, David Beckham’s international name is also expected to bring foreign investors to secure financial backing for young talented designers at home.

 

David Beckham has encouraged his eldest son, Brooklyn so much into fashion, that he is now studying photography at the New York Fashion School in Parsons. Beckham is also a partner in "Posh & Becks" fashion with his wife Victoria, who is a fashion designer and both are known as the first couple of British fashion.

 

43-year old David Beckham and the father of four children is no doubt a fashion statement for all age groups, his frequent hairstyle, body covered with tattoos clearly defines Beckham as the perfect choice for the job. He was also a model for Marks & Spencer underwear. Though before he starts working full-fledged, his initial public engagement this month will be as a guest at the Harry and Meghan Royal wedding, after that he may start his fashion tours.
