Bharat Ratna and Former President Pranab Mukherjee (84) breathed his last on 31st August 2020, Monday, informed his son Abhijit Mukherjee.
The former President had suffered an accident at his Rajaji Marg residence on August 9 and had been operated the next day to remove a blood clot in his brain. The veteran leader was found to be COVID-19 positive when he went to Army Hospital for treatment.
"With a Heavy Heart, this is to inform you that my father Shri Pranab Mukherjee has just passed away in spite of the best efforts of Doctors of RR Hospital and prayers duas and prarthanas from people throughout India! I thank all of You Folded hands," his son Abhijit Mukherjee tweeted.

Pranab Mukherjee’s political career spanned five decades, the highest point of which came when he became the President of India.
He is survived by his 3 children.-Sharmistha Mukherjee, Abhijit Mukherjee and Indrajit Mukherjee.
Pranab Mukherjee was conferred Padma Vibhushan in 2008 and Bharat Ratna in 2019. His demise is greatly mourned by the nation. May the departed soul rest in peace.
