George Floyd, 46, died after he was arrested outside a shop in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Monday. One of the officers- Derek Chauvin, pinned him down to the road, held him down by his knee on his neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds while George struggled to breathe. He later succumbed.
The gruesome video which was recorded by several bystanders has shocked the world. The police reached the scene following a complaint by a Deli stating that Floyd allegedly faked a $20 bill.
Floyd lived in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, and worked as a bouncer in a restaurant for five years. He had recently lost his job as a result of the ongoing Coronavirus crisis.
Anti Racism Protests across major cities
The anti-racism protests that began in a small street in Minneapolis has spread to all major cities of the United States and has finally reached the White House.

The protests began in a small park near the White House initially, some of them lighting fires and throwing stones at riot officers. President Donald Trump was taken to an underground bunker and he was there for a short period as a safety precaution on Friday night.
Police had to disperse the raging crowds using tear gas and pepper bullets. In Denver, protestors protested peacefully and were seen lying with their face down and their hands behind their back shouting, “I can't breathe” in reference to Floyd’s final words.

In Minneapolis, a lorry driver breached a road barrier and headed straight towards a group of protestors who were marching on a highway. The protestors pulled him out when the lorry came to a halt. The driver escaped with minor injuries however his motives remain unclear.

In Philadelphia, there were scenes of the public looting stores and smashing police cars.
The US military force for domestic emergencies-The National Guard said that it has deployed 5,000 personnel to 15 states including Washington D.C.
The streets that remained isolated a few days back due to the pandemic are now flooded with crowds of raging protestors. The accused police officer Chauvin was arrested on May 29 and has been charged with three-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
The gruesome killing of George Floyd has once again reignited the hot topic of racism and police brutality in America.
