Global Coronavirus Infection Crosses 1 Lakh Mark

Coronavirus Infections has crossed more than 100,000 people across 91 countries of the world. As the death toll due to the virus reached 3,407 mark, the total number of infections hit 100,002 at 1700 GMT on Thursday.

There is a surge in the number of cases across the world mainly in virus hotspot Iran that has clocked 1,234 new cases.

China where the epidemic emerged at the end of December last year, only has 80,552 cases, out of which 3,042 were fatal. On Thursday, there were 143 new cases of infections and 30 deaths.

Since the epidemic began, outside China, a total of 19,450 cases have been recorded across the world, which also includes 365 deaths. Since 1700 GMT Thursday, there have been 2,349 new cases and 31 new deaths outside China.

The most affected countries besides China are South Korea with 6,284 cases and 42 deaths, Italy with 3,858 cases and 148 deaths, Iran with 4,747 cases and 124 deaths and France with 577 cases and nine deaths. At 1700 GMT, Thursday countries including China, South Korea, France, Spain, and the Netherlands have recorded new deaths. Meanwhile, Serbia, the Vatican, Slovakia, Peru, and Bhutan have confirmed the first cases on their soil.

Continent wise if we see, Asia has record number of total 88,388 cases with 3,101 deaths followed by Europe with 6,284 cases and 165 deaths, meanwhile, Middle East records 4,993 cases with 127 deaths, US and Canada, on the other hand, records 194 cases with 12 deaths, while Oceania 68 cases with two deaths, Latin America and the Caribbean with 34 cases and finally Africa with 41 cases.

This assessment on the infections across the world is compiled using the data, collected by AFP offices, information from the World Health Organization (WHO) and information from national bodies.

Meanwhile, in India, serious steps are being planned, as 31 cases have been found positive for the deadly disease. Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan is meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi today to hold discussion over coronavirus scare.

A day before Prime Minister Modi has said that coronavirus has come up as a big challenge in front of the world and all have to tackle the epidemic together.
