Google Doodle Celebrates Hans Christian Gram’s 166th Birth Anniversary

Google has once again amazed us with a lovely Doodle, and this time it is Hans Christian Gram’s 166th birth anniversary.

Hans Christian Joachim Gram, born in 1853 was a revered Danish bacteriologist. His father Frederik Terkel Julius Gram, was a professor of jurisprudence or the theoretical study of law. However, Hans Gram chose a different sphere altogether in higher studies and pursued botany at the University of Copenhagen.

It was in 1884 when Gram made his place in history by introducing Gram stain technique. In medical microbiology, although this technique is still considered as the standard procedure, Gram himself was extremely modest while remarking about his notable development, “I have therefore published the method, although I am aware that as yet it is very defective and imperfect; but it is hoped that also in the hands of other investigators it will turn out to be useful.”

The Doodle, looks lovely in violet or purple hue, and the illustrations in a sketchy pattern spread a sprightly vibe in right amount, just what you need for innovation.

We feel inspired indeed, happy birthday Hans Christian Gram!
