Google India’s ‘Sanju’ Special Tweet Featuring Ranbir Kapoor is Sweet yet Funny

Within days of the official trailer launch of ‘Sanju’, Google India celebrated the film craze by publishing a short video clip, featuring Ranbir Kapoor’s character sketch as ‘Sanju’, and his t-shirt quote is hilarious.

What are the hottest YouTube trends these days? The usual funny stuff, ‘Race 3’ spoofs and of course,‘Sanju’ trailer. The biopic based on the life of one of Bollywood’s most controversial actors, Sanjay Dutt started creating the hype, since its shooting days. Current Bollywood charm from the legendary Kapoor family, Ranbir Kapoor’s makeover as Sanjay Dutt went viral since the first look releases.

‘Sanju’ 8-second clip by Google India that has been captioned as “Of mind games, memoirs, and merry-making. #GoogleTrends #RanbirKapoor #SanjuTrailer @foxstarhindi #UCLfinal #Race3” has pinched the second sequel of the ‘Race’ franchise.

Look closely for the quote on Ranbir’s t-shirt. It is a spoof of the viral dialogue from ‘Race 3’ “Our business is our business, none of your business.” The dialogue is being mocked in every other Facebook trolls, or internet memes, and now ‘You too, Google India?’ It seems, Indian cine watchers are thoroughly enjoying this take-off, although, we’re not very sure how light-heartedly ‘Race 3’ lead and industry bigwig Salman Khan has reacted to the chain of parody.

As far as ‘Sanju’, the film is concerned, Ranbir’s makeup, body language and portrayal of Sanjay are so convincing that Sanju teaser gathered a million views within a very short span. Sanjay Dutt, known as ‘Baba’ in the Bolly industry carries an iconic way of walking and talking style. Ranbir Kapoor, who has been a media favorite for on screen and off screen ‘plays’, has definitely put a lot of effort to copy the ‘Baba’ mannerism, attempting to keep it as believable as possible.

While ‘Sanju’ teaser only offered the viewers the glimpses of Sanjay Dutt’s several stages of life in first person narrative, the trailer introduced other characters including Sanjay’s parents, co-actors etc.

Sanjay Dutt was born to two most celebrated actors of 50s - 60s era, Sunil Dutt, and Nargis. Sanjay made his debut in Hindi cinema with the film ‘Rocky’ opposite Tina Ambani (Munim) in 1981.

The film, that brought fame to young Sanjay overnight, turned out to be a signal of a forthcoming turbulence. Being a star kid with access to quick fame and money Sanjay secured his reputation as a spoilt brat in the industry, as well as a Casanova, in no time! Numerous affairs, illegal weapon possession, drugs and multiple time arrests were more than enough to ruin a healthy life, career, and mind.

However, Sanjay revamped his image onscreen with films like ‘Parineeta’, ‘Munnabhai MBBS’, ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’ etc. in the second innings of his life and career. Sanjay Dutt’s most brilliant performance in 1999 film ‘Vaastav: The Reality’ as Raghu had won him best actor awards.

‘Sanju’ also stars Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Jim Sarbh, Dia Mirza amongst others. 90s beauty and sensation, Manisha Koirala will be making a comeback after years, as Ranbir’s onscreen mother and 50s heartthrob Nargis Dutt.

Interestingly, Nargis used to be one of the prominent heroines of late Raj Kapoor, the grandfather of ‘Sanju’ lead Ranbir Kapoor. Together, they have given many hits like ‘Shree 420’,  ‘Awara’, ‘Anari’, ‘Jagte Raho’, ‘Aag’ and more to the list. In fact, the pair of Raj-Nargis used to be the most sought after onscreen couple in Hindi cinema, that also enflamed some off-screen sparks in between as per the rumors.

This is quite unlikely in Bollywood to witness an official biographical film that actually follows the person’s life and works without covering much of the unpleasant negativities, political interferences, controversies, and threats. One of the reasons behind this might be Sanjay’s good terms with the filmmakers, director Rajkumar Hirani and  Vinod Chopra Films.

Earlier, Ranbir did a cameo in the same director-producer film ‘PK’ in 2014. The industry and the media are anticipating ‘Sanju’ to bring a major turn in Ranbir’s career, which the 35-year-old actor is longing for quite some time.

‘Sanju’ is set to hit the Indian theaters on 29th June.
