Grease Star Olivia Newton-John Revealed a Secret to Her Fans

Olivia Newton-John, the famous Grease star has revealed that she is battling cancer for the third time. In an interview with Australia’s Sunday Night, she opened up about her secret she had been keeping for the past five years. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2017 for the third time. This was kept a secret and she has come out with it only recently. She has been diagnosed with cancer of the base of the spine. She is undergoing treatment and has gone through many radiation sessions. She is also trying out natural remedies which include using cannabis oil for pain relief. ”I’m still treating it, and I’m treating it naturally and doing really well, yeah,” she told the network late Sunday (Sept 9).

Olivia has been very vocal about the use of cannabis which is banned in Australia. She has been using cannabis as a pain reliever and she hopes that cannabis is made legal in Australia so that many people benefit from it. She feels she is lucky staying in the US as cannabis is legal and she is free to use it.

According to her words, ”In California it’s legal to grow a certain amount of plants for your own medicinal purposes. So he (husband John Easterling) makes me tinctures. It’s hard to say, they help with pain.” She also said, ”I’m very lucky that I live in a state where it’s legal and that I have a husband that is a plant-medicine man.  ”My dream is that, in Australia soon, it will be available to all the cancer patients and people going through cancer that causes pain.”  

The 69- year old singer, songwriter and actress has said that there are times when she feels low and loses hope but she is trying to be positive about it. She said, ”There are moments. I’m human. So if I allow myself to go there, I could easily create that, you know, big fear.”

 
The singer and actress has been struggling with cancer since 1992. She was diagnosed with breast cancer then. She recovered from breast cancer and became active in spreading awareness about the lethal disease. She also opened a cancer hospital in Melbourne, Australia. It was named, the Olivia-Newton-John cancer Wellness Research center.

In her interview, she revealed that she was again diagnosed with cancer in 2013 when she discovered a lump on her shoulder. After 21 years she had to go through the trauma and pain all over again after thinking she had beaten the dreadful disease. The lump receded gradually, however, the cancer began spreading and Olivia was unaware of it. This time she kept the disease a secret and did not talk about it. In her words, ”The second time I thought, I don’t really need to share this. It’s not something I need to share with people. It’s my life, I just decided to keep it to myself.”

Now that she has been diagnosed with the disease a third time she spoke out about it.  She has called this battle with cancer a journey and not a fight. She has bravely spoken about it and has been dealing with it positively.

She says she has nothing to complain about as she has a wonderful life. In her words, “I'm a very privileged person and I'm very aware of that. I live in a beautiful place, have a wonderful husband, all these animals I adore, I have an incredible career - I have nothing really to complain about.”
