Hania Aamir Refutes Fake Statement amid Rising Indo-Pak Tensions

Following the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian tourists and a Nepalese national, tensions between India and Pakistan have flared once again. As a result, several Pakistani celebrities have had their Instagram accounts restricted in India. Among them is actress Hania Aamir, whose profile is inaccessible to Indian users.

Amid this situation, a fabricated statement allegedly made by Hania went viral. The viral post claimed that she appealed to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reverse the decision to limit access to their social media accounts. However, Hania Aamir promptly addresses this on her Instagram Stories, clearly stating the claim was baseless and untrue.

She began her clarification with a candid message:

"Recently, a statement has been falsely attributed to me and is being widely circulated on social media. I want to address this directly: I did not make this statement, nor do I endorse or align with the words being linked to me. It is entirely fabricated and misrepresents who I am and what I believe."

Hania went on to express heartfelt sorrow for the recent tragedy. She emphasized the importance of empathy during such a distressing time and discouraged politicisation of pain.

 "That being said, this is a deeply sensitive and emotional time. My heart goes out to the innocent lives lost and the families affected by the recent tragedy. Pain like this is real, and it deserves empathy—not politicisation..."

Her response was imbued with sincerity and a plea for unity. She reminded people that extremism should not define entire nations and cautioned against spreading misinformation. Her tone remained compassionate and composed throughout.

“To my beloved supporters, your love means everything to me,” she added, urging people to practice discernment and compassion. “Let us honor those impacted by choosing empathy, truth, and togetherness.”

In addition to Hania, other Pakistani artists such as Ali Zafar, Sanam Saeed, Bilal Abbas, Momina Mustehsan, Iqra Aziz, Imran Abbas, and Sajal Aly also faced Instagram restrictions in India.

Meanwhile, Fawad Khan, who was set to return to Bollywood with the film Abir Gulaal, now faces uncertainty as the release of his movie has been halted amid these heightened tensions.

The Pahalgam attack has reignited calls to ban Pakistani artists from working in India—a debate that first surfaced after the 2016 Uri attack. Despite past prohibitions, the Bombay High Court ruled in 2023 that banning cross-border cultural collaboration had "no merit," supporting continued artistic exchange.
