Veteran actress Helen is all set to make a comeback to the silver screen. The actress will soon be seen in Abhinay Deo’s neo-noir crime drama ‘Brown.’ 

The film is based on Abheek Barua’s book ‘City of Death’ which will be centered around the ‘city of joy’ Kolkata.

Karisma Kapoor is the protagonist in the film which will also feature actor Surya Sharma. 

Speaking on her role in the movie, Helen said, "When I was first approached, what put me at ease was the clarity and assurance the team gave me about my role. I identify with this character and I plan to simply enjoy myself as I return to the set."

The actress also expressed that she was apprehensive initially before taking up the role as a lot has changed over the years in the vibrant world of Indian cinema since she last worked on the sets. 

“I was nervous looking at how things have changed since I was last on screens, but having witnessed the change, it is all good and is in fact, fascinating to say the least, for this is a space I have never experienced before”, she expressed. 

In a career spanning seventy years, the charming actress was way ahead of her times. She was cited as one of the most graceful and iconic dancers of her time. 

Her rise to fame was her performance in the song ‘Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu’ in the film 'Howrah Bridge’. There was an outpour of successful movies post this. 

Fans and followers admire her neat dance moves in iconic songs like ‘ Mehbooba Mehbooba (Sholay), Piya Tu Ab To Aaja (Caravan), Aa Jaane Jaan (Inteqaam) to this day, such was her level of popularity. 

Helen has been the recipient of the Padma Shri Award in 2009 and Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Lahu Ke Do Rang.’

Four films and one book have been dedicated to her dynamic life and career in the industry. Jerry Pinto’s book ‘The Life and Times of an H Bomb’ went on to win the National Film Award for Best Book on Cinema in 2007. 

The actress has admitted that her character in ‘Brown’ is closely associated with her own identity and therefore it was very difficult to refuse the role. The upcoming movie ‘Brown’ seems promising and after aeons it would indeed be exciting to witness the iconic dancer and actress spread her magic on the silver screen.
