Here’s What Made Miss Universe 2023 Different from The Previous Years

Contestant from Nicaragua, Sheynnis Palacios ultimately won the coveted Miss Universe 2023 crown which was held in Jose Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador.

For this contest, there were three presenters: American TV personality Jeannie Mai, Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo and American TV presenter Maria Menounos.
Her answer in the final question and answer round made a significant impact on her ability in making her way into the hearts of the judges. Sheynnis Palacios, who has pursued her degree in Mass Communication from Universidad Centroamericana, was asked: “If you could live one year in another woman’s shoes, who would you choose and why?”
Sheynnis answered, “I would choose Mary Wollstonecraft because she opened the gap and gave an opportunity to many women. And what I would do, I would want that income gap to open up so women could work. In any area, they choose to work in because there are no limitations for women. That was 1750. Now in 2023, we are making history.”

Unlike previous contests, the 2023 Miss Universe Pageant has been rather unique in so many ways. To begin with, age was not a criteria for the participants.
Two mothers Camila Avella Montanez from Columbia and Michelle Cohn from Guatemala participated in the contest.
To make the international pageant more inclusive this year, two transgender contestants from the LGBTQIA community, Valerie Kolle from the Netherlands and Marina Machete from Portugal also participated in the global event. This has never happened before in the previous Miss Universe pageants.

Shweta Sharda, 23, from India served some amazing looks at the contest however she couldn’t make it to the top ten. Her golden heavily embroidered mystical gown coupled with a head gear that consisted of religious symbols was larger than life.
Pakistan created history by participating in the international contest for the first time in seventy two years. Erica Robin, a christian from Karachi, was at the receiving end of a backlash after she won the Miss Pakistan contest. The higher authorities in the country heavily protested that she was not chosen to represent Pakistan.
Erica Robin, however, triumphed as she represented Pakistan by setting the stage on fire by her sheer elegance and charm which led her into the top twenty last night.
Miss Universe 2023 pageant was definitely a night to remember as it had many takeaways and broke common stereotypes.
