Here’s Why AR Rehman is Having Fewer Collaborations with Bollywood

After the deluge of allegations and controversies engulfed the Indian Film Industry, the dark side of the music world is gradually emerging after being exposed by prominent personalities.

People have been speaking up on topics such as Nepotism, toxic culture, favouritism in Bollywood especially after the sudden demise of Sushant Singh Rajput, but when people like A R Rehman who rarely offer their personal opinion begin to talk, you know that it is a matter of serious concern.

He revealed that he’s not getting enough work in the industry as “there is a whole gang working against him.” In an interview with Radio Mirchi when he was asked why he doesn’t compose more music for movies, he answered that some people in Bollywood are spreading false rumours against him.

“See, I don't say no to good movies, but I think there is a gang, which, due to misunderstandings, is spreading some false rumours,” he said.

The music maestro has composed 9 songs for Sushant Singh’s last film ‘Dil Bechara’ directed by Mukesh Chabbra. When the director approached him for his music, Mukesh told Rehman that a lot of people from the industry told him not to approach the popular music composer.

“Yeah okay, now I understand why I am doing less (work) and why the good movies are not coming to me.” I am doing dark movies because there is a whole gang working against me, without them knowing that they are doing harm,” said the celebrated music composer.

It is truly appalling when a talented music composer and singer who mesmerized us with his melodious music in songs like ‘Chotti Si Aasha’ from Roja, ‘Rangeela Re’ from Rangeela and ‘Rang De Basanti’ from ‘Rang De Basanti’ is struggling to receive good work.  There is no denying the fact that he has made an immense contribution to the music industry through his incredible talent and notable compositions.

The music composer is hopeful though when he leaves us with these thought provoking words: “I believe in destiny. I believe that everything comes from God. So, I am taking my own movies and doing my other stuff. But all of you are welcome to come to me.”
