How AI Tools Are Making People More Lonely and Diverted
AI has changed the world through its ease of access. However, study shows that people using AI become more Isolated. Working with teams and individuals allows employees to become more inclusive leading to better mental health.
AI has been evolving every day, giving people the ease of access and challenging human knowledge and capabilities. While some companies and businesses have started to replace human labor with AI, replacing the skills can be a cumbersome process. A recent survey has claimed that humans are relying on AI tools which is making them lazy and lonely. The aspect of laziness can be easily found, however, the reason behind loneliness is yet to be defined.
Many researchers have claimed that employees must be given exposure to technology so that they can become better at what they do. However, this also means a retraining of the employees and developing their skills which is again a pressure on the finances. Many people are given jobs and the tasks are then automated claiming financial difficulties. This can play a significant downfall among people leading to mental health issues and demotivation in the work. This can be extremely challenging for the employees and also creates job dissatisfaction.
An HRBP of a popular company claimed that if the business wants to adopt an AI nature it has to keep the employees first. Modern organizations are doing great to promote inclusiveness and social connection within the office based on which the employees can develop interest of their work. When social inclusiveness is made, others also feel the connection and develop similar interests.
Employees who are constantly guarded and driven by technology and AI have higher chances to collaborate and innovate and foster a culture of innovation and inclusiveness. A study also showed that people that have been using AI tools, face higher challenges such as social isolation and poor morale. However, when they work with teams and people around them, they tend to interact and gain more responsive ideas that may support them in their work. This way the study has proved that working with AI tools only can make people lonely and might lead to isolation among the people.
It is suggested that businesses that are simply adding AI to the workforce should redesign the entire workforce making it changed and ensuring that the forces are being managed effectively. The businesses must create opportunities for the employees to interact with the AI and should develop proper guidance so that employees can align themselves with the changing needs. This means that the people will have to engage in activities with the team where the businesses see interaction and social inclusiveness as a part of the process and not something that can hinder work productivity.
