There wouldn’t have been any better occasion than today, 5th September, Teacher’s Day, and Hrithik Roshan surely didn’t want to miss the emotions that surround the date. The much-awaited biopic starring Hrithik as mathematician Anand Kumar unveils its official series of posters today! The ‘Super 30’ excitement begins!

When the world follows a more thought-provoking line of cinema, can Bollywood be far behind? Kudos to our filmmakers and the genre of Netflix and Amazon series, that this new generation is witnessing distinctive bracket of films with far realistic treatment, which is based on issues or subjects, very contemporary and relatable.

Hrithik Roshan, who stepped into Bollywood as the leading man with a ‘boy meets girl’ romantic drama ‘Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai’(2000) and often appeared in glamorous characters, for the first time will be playing a real-life genius in ‘Super 30’.

Anand Kumar, on whom the film is based on, was born and raised in Patna, Bihar. Being a son of a clerk, his early life hasn’t been a bed of roses. As his father was not able to afford private schooling for Anand and his siblings, they went to a Hindi medium institution, Patna High School. During the day, Anand used to study and in the evenings, helped their mother in selling papads. Long train journeys, post-study private tuitions and contribution of his bit in a small business were part of Anand’s day-to-day struggle to support his family

But Anand was a gifted lad. It is in this school where he developed his interest in mathematics and later, during graduation submitted papers on number theory. These were published in Mathematical Spectrum and The Mathematical Gazette.

The original Super Teacher, Anand Kumar

Although he was selected for the Cambridge University, his father’s health conditions and financial crunch blocked the path he aspired and deserved, even asking for sponsorship didn’t help. Anand’s dream of studying in the Cambridge never touched the ground. But his own sufferings, experiences, and passion for mathematics turned him even more adamant.

In 1992, Anand rented a room for Rs. 500 per month and started offering private coaching. As the number of students started to grow, the genius founded his own institute, Ramanujan School of Mathematics (RSM).

But it all began when a financially backward student came to Anand for IIT-JEE coaching in early 2000. His situation didn’t allow him to pay the institution annual tuition fees, but was enough to motivate genius Kumar. As Anand himself had been on the same page at some point in his life, he decided to do something for the poverty-stricken students.

Anand enrolled the ‘Super 30’ program where the needy students appeared for a selection test and the best 30 of them could avail free coaching for IIT-JEE. And Super 30 turned out to be an inevitable success!
