Iconic Series Fauji is Back with A Modern Twist, Shooting Kicks Off in Pune
The beloved series ‘Fauji’ is back and this time with a fresh cast! Filming has already kicked off at Symbiosis College in Pune. TV buffs can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store!
Iconic serial Fauji that launched Shah Rukh Khan to superstardom is returning to Doordarshan. The filming of Fauji 2 has officially begun in Symbiosis College, Pune.
The series will have a modern twist to it. The news of the return of the iconic serial has created quite a buzz on social media among TV enthusiasts.
To once again relive and celebrate the military drama, Doordarshan is telecasting 13 episodes of the serial from Monday to Thursday.
The new series has been creatively directed, and conceptualized by Sandeep Singh. Vicky Jain from Bigg Boss 17 fame is introduced as Sanjay Singh while Gauahar Khan is Lieutenant Colonel Simarjeet Kaur. Abhinav Pareek is making his directorial debut with this series.
Doordarshan’s Director General, Kanchan Prasad, said, “Fauji is a timeless classic that continues to resonate with audiences. As we look forward to Fauji 2, airing the original series is a perfect way to reconnect with the roots of this iconic show and celebrate its legacy before its next chapter unfolds.”
Besides Vicky Jain and Gauahar Khan, the show will feature Aashish Bhardwaj, Utkarsh Kohli, Rudra Soni, Amardeep Phogat, Ayaan Manchanda, Neil Satpuda, Sushmita Bhandari, Maansi, Suvansh Dhar, Aman Singh Deep, Udit Kapur and Priyanshu Rajguru.
Sonu Nigam has lent his voice to the title track.
It will air on Doordarshan in Hindi, Tamil,Telugu, Gujarati, Punjabi and Bengali. It will also air on Colors TV.
The 1989 military drama series, directed by Lt. Col. Raj Kumar Kapoor propelled SRK’s career in the right direction. Khan made his television debut through this show. He played the character of Lieutenant Abhimanyu Rai (supposedly based on Lt. Col. Sanjoy Bannerji of the Bombay Sappers, Indian Army). Everyone adored Shah Rukh Khan as Abhimanyu! His amazing performance really won hearts and helped him gain a huge fanbase during that time.
The series followed the life of new recruits who were being trained to become commandos in the Indian Army. Initially, Shah Rukh Khan was to play the second lead, however, they decided to make him the lead person as he was very camera friendly.
The release date of Fauji 2 is yet to be announced.
