A new set of deportees from the United States of America arrived on 15th February 2025 at 10 PM. The deportation process is directly coming after President Donald Trump cracked down on the hunt for illegal immigrants in the US. The second part of the deportation consists of 119 immigrants from different parts of India such as Uttar Pradesh, Gujrat, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan. The deportees will land in a military aircraft and will be safely handed over to the Indian Authorities.
Every week a C-17 Globemaster will land at Amritsar International Airport until the entire process of deportation is complete and all the illegal immigrants in the country are transferred. Last week a set of deportees was sent to India after the decision was made by the president.
During the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the US, He engaged in a conversation with President Donald Trump who advised him on the decision of immigrants and how they are being a part of overpopulation. This was one of the multiple bilateral issues discussed in the meeting.
Prime Minister informed the president that most of the people living in America illegally are usually trafficked with the hope of jobs. He also assured that India is ready to take back its citizens and that all procedures will be duly followed.
"They are shown big dreams and most of them are such who are misled and brought here. So, we should attack this entire system of human trafficking. Together, it should be the effort of the US and India to destroy such an ecosystem from its roots so that human trafficking ends... Our bigger fight is against that entire ecosystem, and we are confident that President Trump will fully cooperate with India in finishing this ecosystem," claimed PM Modi.
News surfaced on many different social media platforms where deportees were seen cuffed and chained during the evacuation process. Opposition parties have taken a stand and are also urging the center to take necessary actions to ensure a respectful deportation. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has laid certain protocols which consist of shackling the deportees for safer transportation. However, instant arguments of how inhuman the practice is.
EAM Jaishakar spoke to US officials and also asked them to provide a dignified deportation. Keeping in mind the policies and protocols, he also urged the authorities to be more human during the entire procedure.
