India’s national cricket team delivered a historic performance to win the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, defeating New Zealand national cricket team by 96 runs in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The victory marked a major milestone for the India national cricket team, making them the first team to successfully defend the T20 World Cup title and the first to win the tournament three times.

Led by captain Suryakumar Yadav, India produced a commanding performance in front of a packed stadium of more than 80,000 fans. Batting first, the team posted a formidable 255 for 5, powered by a brilliant 89-run innings by Sanju Samson and rapid contributions from the top order.

India’s bowling attack then dismantled New Zealand’s lineup. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah delivered an outstanding spell, taking 4 wickets for 15 runs and earning the Player of the Match award. New Zealand were eventually bowled out for 159 runs, sealing India’s emphatic victory.

The triumph also cemented India’s dominance in global cricket, coming after their previous T20 World Cup success in 2024 and marking another major international trophy for the team.

Actors such as Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, and Anushka Sharma also shared congratulatory messages, celebrating the team’s achievement and expressing national pride.

From the South Indian film industry, stars including Mahesh Babu, Jr NTR, Ram Charan, and Allu Arjun also took to social media to applaud the team’s success, describing the victory as a proud and historic moment for the country.
