India to Ensure the Sacrifice of 40 Jawans Won’t Go in Vain: Pulwama Attack

In the recent memory, terrorist attacks in the country has been controlled in such a extend, that we have started feeling at ease, but the terror attack at Awantipora in Pulwama District of Jammu and Kashmir, where more than 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed has once again brought back the memories of dark, terrorism inflicted Kashmir.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Security has been convened this morning. In the meeting, some important decisions have been taken, which includes the security forces have been given all the power to carry on attacks. India has been taken away, the title of ‘most favored nation’ from Pakistan and strict action will be taken against all those who are directly or indirectly involved.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has after the CCS meeting said, “The attack on CRPF personnel in Pulwama is despicable. The sacrifices of our brave security personnel shall not go in vain. Those who are involved will be punished very soon. We must, therefore, fight unitedly. The intention of our neighboring country will never be fulfilled. 130 crore Indian will give them a befitting reply soon”. Home Minister Rajnath Singh will be visiting Srinagar today to review the situation and convene an all-party meeting tomorrow in Delhi.

The terrorist attack is counted, as the worst in 3 decades of militancy in Kashmir. According to Home Ministry sources, the terrorists used a car bomb to hit a vehicle on a convoy of 78 vehicles carrying over 2,500 CRPF men from Jammu to Srinagar.

The stretch on which the incident occurred had been sanitized earlier in the morning as per regular routine, but the authorities have termed it as a serious breach of security. Reports suggest that the vehicle used by the terrorists was a Scorpio carrying more than 350 kg of explosives. 

Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish e Mohammed has claimed responsibility for the attack. Intelligence reports suggest Adil Ahmad Dar also known as “Waqar Commando” carried out the attack. He is a resident of Kakapora from the same Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. He has joined the terror outfit Jaish e Mohammed, only last year.

It is strange that Jaish e Mohammed and its founder and Chief Masood Azhar is still not in the terror list of UN Security Council, India has urged the International community once again to support its proposal to the list of terrorists which also includes Jaish-e-Mohammed Chief, Masood Azhar, as a designated terrorist under the 1267 Sanctions Committee of the UN Security Council.

The attack is considered worst terror attack in Kashmir since October 1, 2001, when three terrorists had rammed a Tata Sumo loaded with explosives into the main gate of the State Legislative Assembly complex in Srinagar killing 38 people.

The scale of the Pulwama terror strike has exceeded even that of the Uri attack on September 2016, when four heavily armed terrorists attacked an army brigade headquarters killing 19 jawans. The Indian army has responded with a cross-border surgical strike in which large numbers of terror launch pads were destroyed inside Pakistan territory. In last one year, 250 militants have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir by security forces.
