Indian Coast Guard And Pakistan Coast Guard Save 12 Men Stranded in The Arabian Sea

Indian Coast Guard rescued close to 12 men who got stuck due to a flood in the ship and rough seas. The operation was conducted jointly by Indian and Pakistani Coast Guard. The incident occurred in the Arabian Sea where 12 seafarers were stranded. The vessel named Piranpir was travelling from Por Bandar to Iran where it faced rough sea claimed the defence ministry.

“This humanitarian search and rescue mission was marked by close collaboration between the ICG and PMSA, with both nations’ Maritime Rescue Coordination Centres (MRCCs) maintaining continuous communication throughout the operation.”

The MRCC received a call where the incident was reported. The regional headquarters was then contacted and alerted INS Sarthak assigned in that area. The ship then connected with the MRCC Pakistan and alerted the ships near them.

The defence Ministry further claimed that “ICGS Sarthak deployed for forward area patrolling, proceeded at maximum speed to the probable location and conducted an extensive search operation. The 12 crew members, who had abandoned their vessel and taken refuge in a dinghy, were located and rescued approximately 270 km west of Dwarka, within Pakistan’s search and rescue region,”

The rescued seafarers were examined by the medical team of INS Sarthak and were reported to be in good condition. PMSA confirmed the successful coordination and implementation that could save the lives of the seafarers. PMSA took to X and claimed that “At approximately 1020 hours, the MRCC Pakistan received an urgent email from MRCC Mumbai requesting assistance to locate and rescue survivors from the sunken vessel.”
