Jennifer Lopez Ultimately Becomes the Recipient of Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award

Jennifer Lopez has been announced as the recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards 2018. Details below.
The news of Jennifer Lopez winning the award was announced by MTV News Producer Sway Calloway on MTV’s live Facebook page. The singer joined Calloway live on Facebook when the announcement was made. Lopez became quite emotional and all teary-eyed, speaking about her musical journey to Calloway and her fans.
After hearing the good news, this is what the singer had to say: “I grew up in the MTV era. I was watching all the way back from Tina Turner, Bruce Springsteen, and Madonna and Janet [Jackson] and Michael [Jackson], all of them. They were my inspirations to get into the music business, to do what I did. Their videos inspired me to do the videos I did. Now, to be 20 years in and here and winning this award, it's just mind-blowing."
It had been years since Jennifer Lopez had received this prestigious award. Many followers were of the view that it's high time, the singer should be bestowed with this award. Previous Vanguard Award winners were Michael Jackson, Madonna, Guns and Roses, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Kanye West, Rihanna, and Pink. There were some fans who suggested other names like Janet Jackson, Bjork and Busta Rhymes for the award. One name that was suggested the most was that of Missy Elliott.
