Johnson And Johnson to Hand Out $15 Million to Person Who Claimed Talc Contains Cancer-Causing Elements

Johnson & Johnson to pay close to $15 million to a man who developed mesothelioma after the use of the talcum powder. The rare condition of cancer was caused by the usage of the most popular talcum powder for a decade. The jury members eliminated the defense of J&J and directed them to pay the amount to the man

Plaintiff Evan Plotkin filed a complaint against the brand in 2021 after he was diagnosed with the condition. He claimed that inhalation of the powder was the reason behind his cancer condition. The verdict given by the Connecticut court came after Johnson and Johnson aimed to resolve all the disputes. There are many lawsuits against J&J for allegedly causing gynecological issues among the women. More than 62,000 people have accused J&J of causing cancer among the people.

Plaintiff lawyers claimed that the products of J&J contain elements that are potential enough to cause cancer. Elements such as Asbestos and Carcinogens are quite harmful to the human body. However, J&J denied the claims and remained constant on their grounds regarding the safety of the talcum powder. J&J lifted sales its baby talcum powder from the US market in the year 2020 after it faced a backlash for the elements being added to it.
