Karnataka SSLC Exams Commences Today amidst Coronavirus Concerns

The class 10 board exams have begun today in Karnataka despite safety concerns. Around 8,48,203 students are appearing for the SSLC exam across 2,879 centres.

The school authorities have taken extra precautions for the wellbeing of students due to the pandemic.

Students who arrived at the centre were given face masks and sanitizers. Their temperatures were checked before being permitted into the exam rooms. Social distancing is being strictly followed. These arrangements were made two weeks in advance.

The Education Minister Suresh Kumar said, “Children's safety is a top priority. In each room only 18 students will be allowed, 20 if the room is bigger. Social distancing will be maintained. Each student will be tested with a thermal scanner. If a student forgets a mask, the centres will give one. Sanitizers will be used. We request parents to cooperate and maintain social distance at the gates.”

Suresh Kumar also said that they decided to conduct the exam after consulting several people and after submitting an SOP to the high court.
