Kate Middleton Admits Her Official Mother’s Day Photograph Was Edited

Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, has been absent from the glare of the media, for an extended period of time, following her abdominal surgery.

Her absence has sparked a lot of speculation. The situation worsened when her first official photograph was posted following her surgery. Many people, as well as to the top media agencies, believed it to be manipulated.

The photograph of Kate along with her three children was posted by Kensington Palace in honour of Mother’s day in the UK. “Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day,” the caption read.

“Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months,” it further read. By evening, however, multiple media agencies pulled out the snap including Associated Press and Reuters. AP pulled the snap and gave an explanation: “AP’s editorial standards state that images must be accurate. AP does not use altered or digitally manipulated images.”

A day later Kate issues an apology. “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C.”

Despite this, Kensington Palace has said that it would not be sharing the original unedited photograph. Following this incident, Kate was last seen leaving Windsor Castle alongside Prince William.

The tweaked official royal picture has raised some questions among observers. While some assume that there must have been a strong reason for Kate to edit her family picture there are others that think she might have done it playfully and there’s nothing wrong in it.
