Kate Winslet Will Celebrate 25th Anniversary of ‘Titanic’ by Watching It Once Again

Kate Winslet said that she would mark her film Titanic’s 25th anniversary, in which she played Rose, by watching it once again. She made this announcement during the Avatar: The Way of Water press conference. It is to be noted that the actress doesn’t like to watch herself in movies although she may break the rule for Titanic.

The superhit film which was directed by James Cameron and featured Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack will celebrate its 25th anniversary on December 19.

“I'm 47 years old now, guys, and I turned 21 when we were shooting that movie. So, it's like half my lifetime ago,” Kate told Good Morning America.

“It's amazing and incredible to have been part of something that, you know, [is] so steeped in nostalgia for people and still resonates with people in the way that it does.”

“It's a huge, huge honour that people still love something that I was a part of all those years ago”, she further expressed.

The film ‘Titanic’ launched Kate Winslet to instant stardom. The masses didn’t only love the movie, they also loved the chemistry between Leonardo and Kate. Going forward they became a hit pair and became close friends.

Despite achieving stardom at an early age, after Titanic, she didn’t choose movies that necessarily were good for the box office. She’s been experimental and chosen roles that were different. The actress admitted that she likes doing movies that challenge her as an artist.

“I didn’t have ambitions of being a movie star or winning Oscars or anything like that,” she told Variety. “I did it because it was in my bones to be in this creative world.”

Yet again she’ll be seen portraying a unique role; this time of a matriarch. Speaking about her character Ronal in Avatar: The Way of Water, the Oscar-winner told Good Morning America, “She is the female leader. Goddess of the water tribe, who the Sully family run to for sanctuary. She is a matriarch, so Ronal and Neytiri come up against each other because you know you can’t have two matriarchs. My character is also pregnant. She is a very agile, capable, interesting, and strong woman.”

When it comes to beauty, the actress doesn’t follow the stereotypical beauty standards of Hollywood. She embraced her body as it is and used her celebrity power to inspire other women to do the same. Kate supports natural ageing and is against Botox and plastic surgery.

Fans worldwide love her for being real, authentic and for speaking her mind.

Kate’s new release Avatar: The Way of Water will hit silver screens on December 16.
