La Pegasus Initiates Step Towards Evolving Polo in India

To commemorate 100 years of the end of World War I and an aim to revive the interest in Polo, La Pegasus organized an exclusive polo experience - the British High Commissioner’s Polo Day. The event was held at the state-of-art La Pegasus Polo Centre in Gurgaon, Haryana.

Sanjay Jindal: Founder, Patron, La Pegasus Polo, said that Saluting 100 years of the end of World War I, this bilateral event is an attempt to reignite interest in Polo as a sport among the new generation of Indians. They aim to open up the “Game of Royals” to the talented youth of India with an extensive series of Polo experiences. The British High Commissioner’s Polo Day is the start of many such experiences that are awe-inspiring for the spectator and addictive for the player.

What followed, was a friendly match between the British Army Team and Indian Armed Forces Team. The Indian team included players like Col Ravi Rathore, Sep Ravindra Mang, Major Aman Singh and Major Arjun Patil. Whereas, the British team included – Second Lt Rishi Ahluwalia, Gaston Devrient, Second Lt Oli Powell, Second Lt Giles Bromley- Martin. Honorable Sir Dominic Asquith, KCMG, British High Commissioner to India, presented the trophy to the Indian armed forces.

Col Tarun Sirohi (Retd), CEO of La Pegasus Polo Club added that La Pegasus Polo aspires to be the impetus for Polo sport in India and encourage the talent present in the country. They aim to adapt and evolve the existing infrastructure and generate awareness about Indian Polo with various activities.

The event was attended by the key dignitaries like HE Dominic Asquith, KCMG British High Commissioner, HE Daniel Chuburu, Argentine Ambassador, HE Major General Chris Sunday Eze (Rtd), Nigerian High Commissioner, Digvijay Singh - professional golfer etc.

Interestingly, La Pegasus Polo is born out of the sheer love for the history and tradition of Polo in India. With the vision to rekindle the glorious history of the ‘King of Sports’ in the ‘Land of the Kings’, La Pegasus Polo aims to bridge cultures, while strengthening ties with partnering countries. Attempting to revive interest in this royal sport by showcasing the pure thrill of the game, La Pegasus Polo is playing a vital role in adapting and evolving the existing infrastructure in India to match international standards by building world-class facilities across the country.
