The Grammy award winning singer Lady Gaga has cancelled the last 10 dates on the European leg of her Joanne World Tour due to "severe pain".
The Grammy award winning singer Lady Gaga has cancelled the last 10 dates on the European leg of her Joanne World Tour due to "severe pain". As it is known she suffers from fibromyalgia, a long-term condition that can cause chronic pain all over the body. There is no cure for the condition and the cause is also unknown. But the unbearable pain has always trigger physically or emotionally stressful events for Lady Gaga. The decision to cancel the tour by the singer with millions of followers across the world has upset her fans.
In a statement release through her twitter account. The singer informed everyone including her fans that she needed to cancel the tour and urged her fan to bear with her. She wrote consider “putting myself and my well being first”. She also announced the cancellation of her next 10 shows saying, “We're cancelling the last 10 shows of my Joanne World Tour”.
Lady Gaga in her statement has also apologized to her fans in Europe and Rio, saying, “I love you, but this is beyond my control. I am so devastated by the pain and I do not know how to describe the pain with you. All I know is that if I don't do this, I am not standing by the words or meaning of my music. As I want to recover at my home the medical team has allowed by supporting the decision.”
The cancellation affects upcoming concerts planned in eight European cities – London, Manchester, Zurich, Koln, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Paris and Berlin as well as Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Lady Gaga last performed in Birmingham, England only last week. Last year in September Lady Gaga cancelled her show in Rock in Rio Festival held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, after she was hospitalized in severe pain. In November, she resumed again with the tour in North America and in January played several dates in Europe.
Now after suffering this painful condition, Lady Gaga is in the close observation of the expert medical care in her own home. Her team said she had “made the tough decision to immediately come off the road”. The team also added that the medical teams are "working closely with her so she can continue to perform for her fans for years to come".
Two months back in December last year, Lady Gaga has announced her plans for a massive Las Vegas residency that will see the singer performing 74 concerts at MGM's Park Theater. Now it is unclear whether her latest setback will postpone that residency, scheduled to begin in late 2018.
In the past also Lady Gaga was forced to cancel several tour dates, in the year 2013 she had to cancel such a tour in order to have a surgery of her broken hip.
Lady Gaga whose real name is Stefani Joanne Germanotta has talked about her struggles with fibromyalgia, a chronic musculoskeletal disease that causes pain and can also leave those suffering from it battling fatigue, headaches and insomnia, the cause of the condition too is specifically unknown. Lady Gaga has been open about her physical and mental health struggles, saying in September she has been "searching for years to get to the bottom of them."
Lady Gaga, who shot to global fame in 2008 with her hit debut single "Just Dance," opened up about her health struggles in her new Netflix documentary, Gaga: Five Foot Two explores the singer's health issues.
Throughout the film, the “Bad Romance” singer is shown undergoing treatments to help ease muscle spasms, which cause her to feel pain on the entire right side of her body. In order to deal with this severe pain the star singer was often forced to stop working and she has a team who regularly rub her muscles and putting ice on her even during some of her performances.
In the documentary film during one of the scene she is shown asking “Do I look Pathetic?”, then putting her hands over her face to cover her tears, she says “I am very much embarrassed because of this.”
The star who performed just a few days back during the 60th annual Grammy Awards in New York City is on complete rest now and now it is only hope for her fans when their favourite singer is going to resurface again as she has assured in her tweet statement, “I promise you all that I’ll be back to your city now I need rest for myself and my well being. I love you, forever”.
