Leopard in Bangalore Has Been Captured Finally by Forest Officials

Leopard fear had gripped the people in Bangalore especially the south east areas of the city.

The forest officials have now captured the spotted animal in the Kudlu Gate, near Singasadra area. A strong dose of tranquilizer was shot into him.

The leopard has been injured and taken to a rescue centre at Bannerghatta for medical treatment.

Over 70 forest officials and staffers were involved in the combing operation.

A veterinarian was injured while he was trying to tranquilize the leopard with a dart. He was rushed to the hospital while the animal managed to escape into the thick bushes.

The animal was earlier spotted in Tony Apartment complexes on Kudlu Main Road and adjoining areas of Singasandra and HSR Layout multiple times over the past two days.

CCTV footage show that the animal strayed into a parking area and elevator lobby of an apartment.

A forest official said that the leopard, which is two to three years old, may have entered the city from Bannerghatta National Park or from the thick vegetation near HSR layout.

Drone cameras had been set up to locate the spotted animal.

Citizens had been given strict warning not to venture out alone especially in the early parts of the morning or late parts of the night.

DCF said that two cages had been set up in two different locations to capture the animal.

Now, however, citizens of Bangalore can heave a sigh of relief after the daunting capture of the wild animal.
