Lili Reinhart Says to Stop Supporting Celebs Whose Entire Image Revolves Around Their Bodies

Actress Lili Reinhart of ‘Riverdale’ fame who is a strong defender of body positivity has lashed out at celebrities without naming them for starving themselves for the sake of the Met Gala.

The day after the Met Gala event Lili took to her Instagram story to call out celebs who set unrealistic standards to meet their fashion requirements.

Reinhart wrote, “To walk on a red carpet and do an interview where you say how starving you are...because you haven't eaten carbs in the last month...all to fit in a f***ing dress?”

She further expressed: “To openly admit to starving yourself for the sake of the Met Gala.”

“When you know very well that millions of young men and women are looking up to you and listening to your every word. The ignorance is other-worldly and disgusting.”

Even though Lili didn’t call out anyone in particular, many thought she was referring to American socialite Kim Kardashian.

At the global fashion event Kim Kardashian adorned a dress originally worn by Marilyn Monroe at J F Kennedy’s birthday celebration back in 1962 at Madison Square Garden.

Kim had worn the dress in April albeit the beautiful dress didn’t fit her and the dress couldn’t be altered as it was a vintage piece.

Determined to fit into the dress, she didn’t have carbs or sugar for 3 weeks and eventually lost 16 pounds.

“It was such a challenge. It was like a [movie] role. I was determined to fit [into] it. I haven’t had carbs or sugar in about three weeks,” Kardashian told Vogue. “We’re having a pizza and donut party back at the hotel [after the gala].”

Kim's comments have attracted online criticism as her comments seem to promote “diet culture.”

Since Kim is a global celebrity, youngsters can take her words seriously and follow suit nonetheless not all bodies are meant to undergo harsh and strict diets.

There are many instances where crash diets have done more harm than good. Chances are high that crash diets can have a negative impact on the body; depending on the specific body type.

Riverdale star Lili Reinhart has therefore rightfully come forward and condemned those who take drastic measures just to look good and meet high standards of fashion.

Lili has admitted that she has struggled  with body issues in the past.

In very strong words Lili expressed, “Please stop supporting these stupid, harmful celebrities whose entire image revolves around their bodies," she said. “I am not generally an angry person but I swear to god, the toxicity of this industry really gets to me sometimes and I have to do my little Instagram-Story rants to release my rage.”

We all have a right to look and feel good but not at the cost of jeopardising health. By all means we have a right to beauty, and we can achieve the same by making healthier and safer choices.
