Made in Heaven- Why Is It a Must Watch Web Series – Spoiler Alert!

With an 8.4 rating in IMDB, Made in Heaven is all proud portraying the not-so-pretty faces of the society. The Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti’s new Amazon Prime web series is the current favorite of all web series binge watchers.

Finally, to the relief of all, it shows big fat lies at grand weddings of India smashing the stereotype Barjatiya weddings. It’s time the generation must come out of the cocoons and the imaginative world of happiness. The show points out very blatantly that all those glitters are not gold and richness is not synonymous to happiness.

Homosexuality

Karan, one of the co-owners of Made in Heaven- the wedding planning group, is gay, and he knew it since childhood. He has not shied out from exploring partners. Karan gets involved with Nawab since his school days but couldn’t accept the love for him; rather he humiliated Nawab for his sexuality only to save his own image among peers.

The landlord who spies Karan to find out his status was another character that silently screeches the group who are “not so brave” to fight against society. He enjoys the video footage of Karan and his partner in an intimate situation privately but is forced to file a complaint against the pressure of his wife and the desire to maintain a family.

That clearly shows that there are so many people around who are trying to fit themselves in the backdrop of a family. Only a few Karans can shout in front of their parents to say “I can’t act anymore… this is who I am” and still have a supporting brother and father. There are more people like Govind and the landlord who are trying to refuse their sexuality and get married for “happy family.”

The best part of the gay characters is, they do not act feminine which is a conventional image shown to portray gay characters.

Strong woman characters

There are characters who are not really fighting with men to prove they are superior but clearly shows how ambitious they are. They are ready to get what they want, no matter what.

Tara did not leave any stones unturned to come out of her lower-middle-class life to become rich. She took grooming classes, seduced her boss as a secretary to get married to him, to have a share of his richness and start her own business.

She leaks her own sex tape to get things out of order and makes the man marry her, just the way she wanted. Adil, her husband all the time had a concept that he did favor marrying this lower strata girl but never realizes what he signed up for.

Later, Adil went through guilt that he was betraying Tara having an affair with her best friend, Faiza. He carried that guilt all along and always aimed to make up to Tara with all the richness and luxury just to cover his betrayal.

Tara is a businesswoman with strong business sense and the cool, composed decision maker in troubled times. She frequently goes back to her roots but never succumbs to be there and aims to grow from ash every time

Other girls in this web series were all defining their sense of strength in their own unique ways.

Aliya Saxena made a point about her not being a virgin and still got her love.

Jass or Jaspreet is a character coming from a poor family. She is struggling to be something and prove her worth with her values and ideas. She is not coy and does not mind meeting her physical needs. She knows how to accept refusal and get back strong. She makes mistakes and does not mind apologizing to keep her career going.

Shibani, the single mother makes difficult choices of leaving her own startup company to join big names for the sake of giving a better life to her daughter. But makes a point to be with her friends in times of need.

Bubbles is ready to accept that her gay husband, as he accepts everything she says and she prefers things like that.

Faiza shows that you might be through depression even if you are super rich.

It shows the strength of girls like Priyanka Sharma who are not afraid to leave her love and call off her wedding on the mandap as a refusal of dowry.

Sukhmani accepts the fact that her husband is impotent to achieve her long waited goal of being the American wife.

Geetanjali is ready to marry a tree as she is Manglik as she thinks it is meaningless to argue with her in-laws and there’s no need to prove her disbelief.

Male characters

Kabir is struggling with his loneliness and fighting society for his sexual orientation. His trauma after the assault is visible.

Adil is not a male chauvinist. He accepts his infertility issues and is ready to take medications without a fuss.

Nikhil is raged up seeing his wife marrying a tree.

Angad is frustrated to know that his parents spied to know about his wife’s virginity.

Society flaws

Education is overlapped sometimes in front of blue blood. A similar thing is shown in the story the royal wedding where the pilot bride is ready to secure the prestige of the blue blood in-laws by offering money to the poor mehndi girl assaulted by her father-in-law. The mehndi girl accepts the offer for financial stability.

Bride and bridezilla story shows a bride wanting a music video whereas the bridezilla who is the peon daughter is happy with a big wedding cake.

Bijoy and Gayatri’s old love is ridiculed by their family which shows the age restriction of love in the society.

Love without bars

Karan and Tara are not lovers, but they are just there for each other, no matter what. Karan does not mind crying his heart out, and Tara does not mind taking her frustration out with harsh words. They are not buddies who hang around together always, but they share each other’s lives beautifully having their back through thick and thin. You must see to believe the pure laughter and sorrow they share.
