Majerhat Bridge Collapses in Kolkata, Several Trapped and Injured, Rescue Operation Going on
Followed by a heavy rain, Majerhat flyover in South Kolkata collapses, leaving several feared, trapped and injured.
The Majerhat flyover in the southern part of Kolkata has been collapsed around 4:45 in the evening. Panic strikes the City of Joy!
Followed by a heavy rain, a portion of the bridge crashed. According to spot images, several vehicles including private cars, buses, and two-wheelers are trapped.

Rescue operation team and ambulance have already arrived at the spot and as per police sources 6 have been admitted to SSKM hospital.
CNN News 18 says that as per initial update 5 are feared killed. Although, there hasnāt been any confirmed report yet.
On 31st March, 2016 a similar disaster occurred in central Kolkata, when the Vivekananda flyover, which was under construction, collapsed in Girish Park area. Officially, 27 people lost their lives, and over 80 were reportedly injured.
As the Majerhat bridge rescue operation has just started, a precise report of losses might roll in by night.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said the priority of the moment āis relief and rescue... The rest of the investigation will be done laterā.
